I’ve purchased many an item from the Kingston park branch. Rang this morning to ask if they would take a 3 seater & 2 seater sofa, plus footstool, only to travel a 24 mile round trip to be told can’t sell that. The woman that spoke to me has an awful attitude and to be dealing with the public who are willing donate to try help others is bad for your business St Oswalds. I wont be buying from you again…..shocking & ungrateful. If I thought for 1 minute the sofa was rubbish I wouldn’t donate. It was just a case of staff who can’t be bothered to deal with it.

Good stock, but staff have a bit of a weird attitude. I asked politely if it’d be OK to power up and test a TV I was interested in, something that’s pretty standard practice when buying used electricals, even when buying from e.g. Facebook Marketplace. All I wanted was to see it turn on before I drop £60 on it and drive all the way home. Got a confused reaction like I’d just insulted them, told bluntly it’d be fine because they “ran a DVD through them”. Got it home and it was fine, whatever. Staff could be more helpful.

No car park in front of the charity. Not family friendly, as the nearest car park access requires walking on a non pedestrian road.

My favourite out of the St Oswald's charity shops. Doesn't sell clothes so don't head here if you are looking for clothes. Gets some really cool and eclectic pieces of homewares in. Great book and toy selection too. Really reasonably priced. Whoever runs this shop really knows what they are doing. Unlike some of the other shops where prices have risen so high it seems like the stock never turns over and every time you go they have the same overpriced items, Kingston Park prices well and that mess every time that I visit I feel like the stock is all fresh. I always walk out with some really nice items here. I think the other shops in the St Oswald's chain should take a lead out of the Kingston Park book. All of the staff/volunteers are all really nice too.

Absolutely shocking service from the home collection staff. I lost my sister 2 weeks ago and arranged a home collection of her sofa and a few other pieces of furniture. This was booked for the 25th Jan, but they turned up to collect today whilst we were having a family remembrance, saying they had no record of it being the wrong day. They refused to take the bigger pieces, already huffing and puffing before they had even attempted to move anything. They claimed the sofa looked "a bit worn" even though my family pointed out it is only 3 years old and has absolutely no signs of wear and tear. This turned an already very difficult time into a stressful situation, as we are on a time limit to clear her belongings from the property. The sofa he claimed they "might not make any money on" was snapped up 5 minutes later on Facebook Marketplace, including 8 other people wanting to claim it. I feel staff would be more than happy to receive the furniture if I had dropped it off personally, but if it involves having to make any kind of effort themselves, they come up with any excuse in the book as to why they can't take something. I refuse to offer anything else, even though there are still lots of things to donate. It's just not worth the stress when they can't communicate with their drivers properly and seem to be only in it for the large profits they can make.

After taking lots of items over months, I saw a Welsh dresser that was on at £60 and offered £50, which was accepted by the staff at the till, but a lady came across and told me they would not accept £50, I was flabbergasted how greedy is that for something they go for nothing. I will never take anything there again.

10 dvds fir £1. Yes. Really!
Parking bit difficult in week. Easy on a Sat.
Except all donations, men help take it away and will carry bully items to car if necessary.

High praise friendly team as soon as I entered the commercial unit a oldish fella (be careful what I say!) quickly came out and helped me take the items out of the car for me. I had other charity items too in bags and he took that from me as well. I didn't hand my car keys to him though! lol

My only tip to management is it would be nice if they could claim back tax on the items as some charity companies send you messages how much money they have made on your behalf as a tax payer.
