I'm obsessed with thrift stores, but sometimes they can be overwhelming. NOT Plato's Closet in Middletown! This place is a total game-changer. Everything is super organized by size, color, and type - making it so easy to find what I'm looking for.

The staff does an amazing job keeping the store looking great. I love shopping here and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an stress-free thrift store experience.

Very poorly run. I specifically called to ask if they
take Dr Martens. I even described the style. The girl said yes and you get paid whatever the condition warrants. My daughter drove 45 minutes with 2 pairs, one black patent leather and one white pair. The black patent leather has been worn ONE TIME and are like new condition. The white were slightly more worn but still in great condition. They refused to buy either. Don’t list a brand on your website and tell people over the phone that you accept something and then refuse them. BAD BUSINESS. Maybe a different location is better, but the Middletown location is awful.

The employee at the counter was really nice. Despite it being busy she was willing to look through the few items I was trying to sell within 15 minutes. Not sure why my Forever 21 items weren't taken and I didn't make much, but I'm grateful they took at least 2 of my items.

Well let me start off by saying that the staff is incredibly sweet and helpful. I recently went with both my mom & grandma a few days ago and man, did we shop! First, the store is super neat and they has everything coordinated great, as well as having a good selection over all. It’s a good environment to just shop and talk with your family, which I do constantly because I never stop talking haha.

The items are mostly in good condition and some even with tags on them (score! Thank you Zara’s) and trying them on was no hassle. There were a good amount of customers but not stuffy at all and it was great. Looking through the isles, I was surprised on how many pairs of shoes they had for men, where I went to another Plato’s and they didn’t really care for guy’s shoes. Here, it was great & I bought a pair. Another thing I like that I didn’t do that day was when you bring in a buy, you sometimes get a coupon which is super smart, because it makes me buy things while I wait.

I’ve been to many Plato’s closets throughout the state and this one is definitely my favorite. Really quick circling back to my first point, the employees. There was is girl, unfortunately I don’t remember her name but had an excellent customer service attitude. My mom and I even told her, because we feel she did a great job. Coming from a background in business, I’ve seen the best and the worst and this girl had the best. Sometimes we would want something and then didn’t, she was more than happy to help. Overall, such a great store and great place to just spend a few. Ps. Layla, the owner, the sweetest. Okay, I promise I’m done haha.

Plato‘s closet is one of my favorite consignment stores to go to. The only thing I don’t like is that some things are a bit pricey for it being used and I was finding that a lot of tops were skimpy. Other than that they are so nice and I love how everything is color coordinated, and easy to find. They have good deals. I bought a sweater and use their 50% off if you sign up for their text message and got a sweater for five dollars can’t beat it! You can get very lucky! I like how it is clean and they look very new!

I always find great items at Plato’s! There’s usually a bunch of fast fashion brands, but if you’re willing to take time to sort through items, you can find some real good pieces to add to your wardrobe. I feel like pricing is pretty fair for most name brand items. Additional note: Staff in the Holmdel location are always so sweet and friendly!

Please do not go here. Find another Plato’s closet!! I came to this one because it is larger than my local one, so I figured I would have a better chance at selling my clothes. I brought so many nice pairs of shirts and pants for plus sizes ranging from 1x-3x and they refused all of these clothes with tags in great condition. They said it was “worn or torn” or “out of style”. It’s funny because when I walked around the store, barely any plus sizes were even made available. It really appears that this Plato’s closet has an issue with plus size women, and I will tell you why. I Brought 3 of the items that i took to Middletown over to my local one in Edison and the one in Edison took my items!!!! When looking around Edison, I saw so many plus size options and inclusion in this store. Please save yourself the time and effort and go to another Plato’s closet!

I’m not a fan . I’ve tried bringing things in and they never seem to accept much and the signage in the store is ridiculous. They were having a huge sale and they had 90% off signs everywhere in the whole store on every rack. There was no small print. I brought a few things up to the register and they proceeded to tell me that none of it was 90% off that the 90% off stuff was mixed and throughout the store and was labeled as such, which is, ridiculous my daughter was able to find a couple of things So that was good, but the kids that work there I guess try their best but management definitely needs To step it up and teach these kids customer service they don’t get it.
