I greatly value the mission and services of Out of the Closet, however, my donation pick-up interaction left me feeling disappointed and disrespected.

Upon Taylor’s arrival, I mistakenly called him by the wrong name, assuming he was Alex, the person I had been in contact with throughout the day. While I understand that this may have been frustrating, the remainder of our interaction was marked by unnecessary rudeness and an unprofessional tone that made an already difficult process even more unpleasant.

To provide context, I live alone in an apartment without elevator access, making it challenging to carry items for donation. This building is not constructed the best, often making efforts like this one a challenge for all involved.

I made the effort to gather and prepare six large bags of clothing for your organization, which I believe would be appreciated. However, it was communicated to me that they would not pick up anything from the 3rd floor if there were no elevator. After he stated that they would just meet me on the 2nd floor, I decided to terminate the pick-up due to his continued rudeness and passed off two bags of clothing which he snatched from my hand and walked away.

As someone who supports your cause of giving back and being a part of the LGBTQ+ community myself, I expected kindness and professionalism from your staff. Unfortunately, that was not my experience considering I was met with snappy remarks and an attitude that suggested Taylor was having a bad day.

I hope my feedback will help improve the experience for others who want to support your important work as I will never forget this and will likely never do business with this project again.

They get restocked every day, have a good selection and prices. The staff is very nice. No changing rooms. They have a 48 hr return policy for store credit. Books are 1 to 2$. They don't have a separate section for below small size and some of their clothes are also disordered based on size, so don't forget to check other sections too.

A small thrift store with a variety of items at reasonable discounted prices. You can easy find it from the streets but limited parking is available. Supporting this store helps supports various causes dealing with HIV and other problems of today. Enjoy.

An employee harassed my family and me for a very stupid reason. We came to check this place out for the first time, parked behind the building with no cars beside us. We had an okay time in the store and then headed back to the car when we noticed a car very close to ours. Leaving us no room to open our doors. We wondered how he got out of his car.. None of us got our car, so we didn't hit it and decided to just pull out and then get in. As our driver was getting in, a man seemingly heading into the back door of the building yelled, "You better not hit my car; you obviously don't know how to park." He then started cussing us out, saying rude things, and just staring at us and pulling us out. He was ~5"4 with black cross earrings and some little black boots. He was extremely rude.

Edit: I inspected my car door and noticed a scratch on the side that he was parked on. I bought this car a week ago.

Visited the outside part behind the store where they host the $2 items. After going through the items in the blaring heat, I was ready to go look at the inside items. There was a large man w/ a beard guarding the door who overheard me ask my partner if we can enter through the opened back door and he said the only people he was allowing into the store through the back were those who were planning to pay for one of the items they were selling outside. He said everyone else has to go all the way around to through the front. After enduring the heat and being denied access through the back door due to us not having an item we wanted to purchase yet was incredibly frustrating. It's a shame because we had a large box of clothes we were planning to donate. Decided to leave and donate it elsewhere. The staff/ownership need to be more wary that their customers shopping in the back in the texas heat should not be made to walk all around the shopping complex to enter the inside portion just because they don't have an item in hand to purchase yet. This was my first experience in the community and left a sour taste in my mouth. I will not be in a hurry to return anytime soon.

So happy we found this gem! We found some GREAT buys and proceeds going to a meaningful cause makes it that much sweeter! The customer service was top notch! We can’t wait to visit again!! Such a Cute spot!!

Ronnie & Jeremy were great, once I got to the back I was in and out. They also both were super kind & had great energy. The only drawback was my wait time, I waited about 2 1/2 hours—however once Ronnie noticed he took care of me immediately. My advice would be for visitors to make appointments prior to going to avoid a long wait.
