There are a lot of good and bad things about this Goodwill. I'll start with the good. Most employees are very nice and friendly, lots of cool items to choose from to the point sometimes there's really not enough space for it all, and some things are very affordable!
Some of the cons, the place is honestly filthy. Any time someone accidentally drops an article of clothing on the floor, it's covered in dirt. Sometimes you'll see literal footprints all over the aisles. I've seen an employee barely go around to dust once, but never seen anyone mopping and keeping the place clean, yet so many people work there. I've noticed sometimes I'll start feeling unwell after being there too long from all the dust and dirt, so I try to keep my visits as short as possible.
In summer, this location does not have AC that runs throughout the store, only in one area of the entire store. It's so brutal being in there on 100 degree days! Every time I went during the summer, I heard people amongst themselves complaining about it. Their prices have skyrocketed on some items, shoes (mens and womens, $35 for a pair of no-name shoes with a new tag or an expensive brand, but it's so damaged it's falling apart. Really?) baseball caps that looks to the pricer like they'd be anything decent, like a sports team or a popular character, for $9.99 and at times even more, random items so expensive you look it up just to see why and it's because someone on eBay priced it similarly, but nobody actually buys this item at all. Because of this, items start overflowing from the shelves, racks are packed so tight they're hard to sort through. It's always crowded, teenagers are in there on days off being loud and running around, products are packed throughout the store. A larger location is needed, as well as lowering prices so stuff doesn't accumulate. Maybe think about offering pallets for people to purchase or something, for items that don't sell after a certain time to help get rid of old items people have seen there for weeks?
Then there's the issue of no dressing rooms. I know the reason why they're closed, I've seen the sign, seen other reviews and the responses from the owner. It's clear the owner only addresses reviews with a copy/paste message and doesn't address issues or attempts to try to fix them. Other Goodwills across the country are clean, spacious, and have their dressing rooms open. Why can't this one do it?

I love what I do find here, but these problems seriously need to be taken care of and it makes me sad that they cause unnecessary stress to myself and other customers when we just want to shop and have a nice time.

So, the fitting rooms are now closed. So you can’t try anything on. With a return policy of 7 days - but you can only get in store credit and not actually get a refund. If you’re not going to have fitting rooms and expect people to just buy things blindly, GIVE PEOPLE THEIR MONEY BACK for the return. In store credit is NOT the same as a refund. This is theft, I don’t care how you want to spin it. Your inventory is free. You can give people refunds. This is unethical and super disappointing. Don’t respond with the “we didn’t make this decision lightly,” response about closing the fitting rooms (though it is extremely frustrating to not be able to try on clothes). The issue is the refund policy.

I went to Goodwill to donate but there was a line ten cars long , so I went in to see what they have from donations....And wow there they had just a plethora of items to buy from clothing, furniture, appliances, shoes and alot more I ended up just buying some 2032 & AAA batteries but they had so much to see...And then again I'm trying to get rid of stuff and not bring more home , but it is worth a look ............?.........if this helps follow me for more adventures though Boise...............................

Always has a great selection of things. Store is clean and staff is friendly. Spent an hour looking through clothes only to find I couldn’t try any of them on. I know the clothes are cheap, but I’m not going to purchase anything without knowing I can return it and get my money back if something doesn’t fit. I put everything back and left. If you don’t have dressing rooms for use, you need some sort of return policy where people can get their money back. Not store credit. Even if it’s just a 3 day return policy. Something! If other thrift stores can figure out dressing room use, I’m sure Goodwill could too. Kidz Again. Deseret Industries. Uptown. Plato’s Closet. Kid to kid just to name a few.

Please just start pricing your books individually. My children read a lot and we usually buy books and then return them to you and buy more. You get to sell them more than once and we get to not break the bank. For the first time ever today I was told yes, they were children's books, but each was examined to see how hard it was and anything for my middle schooler was no longer children's book pricing and would be regular book pricing. Why are children's books 99 cents unless they are slightly older young adult books? There was a Newbery award winner in there too, a prize specifically for excellence in Children's literature. At a time where the American family feels squeezed on all sides, Goodwill is going to take donated goods they paid nothing for and then squabble at the register over which book is easy enough to receive the actual Children's book pricing to squeeze every cent they can out of me. Even admitting yes, it's a Children's book, but not an ambiguous 99 cent Children's book. I already prefer Deseret Industries and their cleanliness and organization (and no, I'm not mormon). I'm to the point of not even bothering with Goodwill anymore, despite regularly spending quite a bit each month on books. This was a huge misstep.

**As a reply to the follow up comment from the store, I returned today and chose a few books that were very clearly children's books and 2 or the 5 were rejected. It was the same cashier as a few weeks ago, so I just sighed and left. They were illustrated and clearly not adult books. Personally I think I'm just done with this store. As for the quip about the library, we don't have any libraries we are free to join. We live just outside of bounds. Even if we did, many libraries have purged the classics in favor of what they think people want and as a result, even if we had library access, not all the books we wish to access will be available to us. Hence utilizing thrift stores to find what we want. Goodwill should take a page out of the way Youth Ranch promotes literacy with their reading program.

The return policy here is quite evil in all honesty. Goodwill recently implemented a "no changing room" rule so you have no clue if what you buy fits until you purchase it. The sign even says "no changing room, but it's okay! We can do returns!" Unfortunately however, you can't get the return money back on your card. RETURNS ARE IN STORE CREDIT ONLY. So, you can't try on clothes before you purchase them, and after you purchase them and they don't fit/look good you aren't given the money back. Made me a little upset 🙁 it's also a hot day out which is making me more emotional.
