Don’t do it!

It’s taken me a bit of time to write this. But due to still dealing with the aftermath of using this office, I have to write this now.

It was a horrific experience for me. I’ve always been fine going to the dentist. I’ve had braces before as well so I’m very used to going. This was a different experience for me. The service was horrible and they do not tell you what they are doing once they start working in your mouth. They also lie about pricing. I was told one price and the next visit it was almost double!

I was told after the first visit that I need over 10 fillings and one root canal. (My mom still uses my hometown dentist in MD that I’ve gone to for over 20 years - she told him how many cavities I was told I had and he looked at my mother and said… that cannot be accurate). I cannot afford that many procedures at once so I just focused on the root canal.

The second appointment was to get a temporary crown and the root canal. During the procedure, I informed the assistant that the crown was uncomfortable and a bit painful. She did not adjust anything. Just stated “you’ll get used to it”. I tried to say it again but no real acknowledgment of my concerns and pain.

Two days later, I called the office crying from pain. They “rushed” me in the next day and the dentist said I should have said something during the appointment. I informed her that I definitely did but was basically ignored. She apologized and I was helped by her and a different assistant. The pain was gone… for now.

The third and final appointment, was for the permanent crown. I was concerned due to the temporary one not fitting well which still didn’t fit so I voiced my concerns again. I was assured the permanent one would fit without pain. Once the procedure was completed, once again, I voiced my concerns. My bite did not feel right. They had me bite down to check. The assistant assured me it was all good from what she could see when I bit down. Dispute the fact I was literally saying it felt wrong in my own mouth. I left so upset and so uncomfortable and never wanting to true those people again. How could someone who is supposed to help you make everything so much worse

Now, about a year or two later, the left side of my jaw is still longer than the right side so my bite is definitely off. The crown was filed on the sides… not the bottom to “fit”. This causes me daily pain in the mornings and throughout the day. Even wakes me up in the middle of the night most nights. My teeth have also shifted due to the crown not fitting correctly. It was not snuggle with my teeth. So all the money spent on my braces was for nothing… thousands and thousands of dollars wasted. This is so appalling to me.

Do not trust this dentist office! They will make everything worse and ignore all your concerns!

It should be said this was the woman dentist. I’ve been told the other dentist is actually good. It’s a shame I did not see him at all. But who knows at this point.

Wisdom teeth removal here and they gave me minimal instructions on care, didn’t personalize the consultation or surgery. Felt treated very generalized and like charity work by the orthodontist. Dentlaff is amazing however when surrounded by a team who underperforms there’s only so much that can be done. Didn’t schedule a follow up for after my surgery with the orthodontist and the phone works maybe twice throughout the week. Will be transferring to another dental office.

Dr.Dettlaff isn’t the issue. He is such a kind and caring dentist, one of the best we’ve encountered that isn’t in it to take your money with unnecessary procedures. The problem lies with the rest of his office. My husband sat in his room for an hour and twenty five minutes. While we are very understanding that a patient before him had multiple extractions, the purpose of a scheduling team is to ensure that the dentist has the proper time needed, without wasting the other patients time that have appointment scheduled. There was zero flow. I did encounter a lot of just really nice people ; no one was ever rude or disrespectful to us. I really think that it ruined it for us, especially my husband. I also didn’t like how we were charged a copay on a visit that involved two forms of insurance. Both insurances were in network, both covered the procedure. We were planning on just being done with this office, but will now have to wait to receive a refund, when the time comes after both insurances pay.

Dr. Detlaff and his support staff have been taking care of me and my family since the early nineties and we couldn't be happier. The people are friendly and professional, my dental care has always been effective and (almost) pain free, and I leave with a smile on my face. OK sometimes the smiles a little crooked due to anesthesia, but it's there!

Dr. Dettlaff did an amazing job of fixing my chipped tooth. He was very kind about my apprehension and made the cap on the front my tooth not only look great but also felt like a natural fit in my bite. Overall the best dentist I've ever had. Thanks!

Wish I could give a 0. The call center has a idiot working. I called to make apt. In Las Vegas. She made my apt. In Fresno Calif. They called and e mailed me from Fresno for apt . She was getting the address numbers wrong taking my info. She was snappy at me when i told her my ins. Info said never heard of it. Everyone that works in a union grocer has this ins. A coworker recommended you. My mistake to call you
