As a female shooter, it's very difficult to find a local place that shows you respect, patience, and kindness. The entire staff here always makes me feel welcome, comfortable, and not patronized. They give great, helpful advice too. Other local gunshops could learn a thing or two from these guys! Not only do I use their shooting range, but my husband is a member and goes several times a week. It's like a home away from home, and we love it..highly recommend.

Don is the BEST!! My son is experienced and I am getting back into it. We did the two hour course with Don and he is beyond fantastic. He is able to work with two people who are at different skill levels, make it engaging, and help both of us out. We have continued on with the one hour lessons with Don; for my son, to help him get even better, and for me to get comfortable again as well as improve my skills. We have also purchased from Smokin Barrel and everyone we have interacted with are super knowledgeable, friendly, and just great people. Thank you Don and Smokin Barrel!

I took the 2-hour handgun class at Smoking Barrel. The class was fantastic and left me feeling very confident about how a handgun works and how to safely use one. Our instructor, Don, was superb. He was very knowledgable and patient and made the class engaging. My friend and I threw a curveball at him because we are both left-handed / left-eyed, but Don explained how to modify our hand positions. The firing range was very nice. There were many lanes, there was staff always present in the range, and the staff kept the area clean at all times. Finally, the staff up front were very knowledgeable and answered tons of questions we had about the handgun and rifle options for purchase. I’m looking forward to coming back for a rifle training course and then doing some shooting practice in the future.

Reasonable pricing for a Glock 17C. Quick service in the heart of Simi Valley. They have an indoor range that allows rifles, as well as rentals and training courses.

Very rude & unorganized personnel. Overcharged us for 3 people and cut the time in a half. Not recommended if you want calm professional environment for your shooting practice.

The last time I shot any kind of firearm was about 14 years ago.. I was pretty nervous and looked into local shooting ranges, this one in particular stood out due to the GREAT reviews. I didn't know what to expect but upon entering, I was welcomed with warm smiles!! Everyone was kind and very educated in their profession!! They got high quality inventory that is CLEAN and WELL ORGANIZED!!
Once you enter into their high tech indoor shooting range, you're educated on proper etiquette (which they did an AMAZING job at, communication skills are GREAT!!)
A HUGE No Go which you're reminded about 3 different times is to be careful by not shooting too high, which may damage their equipment and lead to a 50$ fee. I was guilty of shooting it but hey, you live and learn.. be careful! That money can go towards some EXTRA AMMUNITION!!
Anyway, I'll definitely be revisiting!!

2. ALWAYS keep firearm(s) pointed in a SAFE DIRECTION
3. Keep your FINGER OFF the TRIGGER until you are READY to SHOOT

Generally rude staff and they tried to overcharge me. Not a good place for beginner shooters, they told my friend to pay a $150 beginner fee.
